Public and free database

The first project was organized for the purpose of promoting the history of photography and the further researches in this field. It included forming a database of photographs and relevant information about them. We started from the scratch. First, we programmed a search engine and the database. Then, we contacted the institutions, private collectors and local people that had a significant number of photographs from the XIX and the first half of the XX century. After consulting with the experts, institutions and organisations experienced in the field of digital preservation, we started scanning and archiving the material. A unique, public and free database of photographs and the relevant information was formed in 2011. It consisted of photographs from public institutions, collections of private collectors and family albums of local people. This was the first public online database of this kind in the region. It was available to be accessed for free, from 2011 to 2013.
